Cinthia Marcelle at Karnnert Art Museum 2013

Krannert Art Museum, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (KAM) is organizing the exhibition Blind Field that will be on view 25 January through 31
March 2013. The project showcases twenty emerging artists working in Brazil, many of whom will be showing for the first time in the United States. Much of the work in the exhibition gestures towards current issues in Brazil; however, none of the artists subscribe to an idea of a monolithic Brazilian identity or artistic sensibility.

Organized by Tumelo Mosaka (Curator of Contemporary Art, KAM), and Irene Small (Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art, University of Illinois), the exhibition and accompanying catalogue disrupt and complicate the habitual transfer of information and call on the viewer to imagine alternate ways of negotiating and visualizing a given environment. This exhibition is tentatively scheduled to travel the Eli and Edyth Broad Art Museum at the Michigan State University beginning September to December of 2013.
